TNA Legend Won’t Wrestle In WWE, Confirms Retirement
A TNA legend has officially retired.
It was recently confirmed that Abyss would be part of the WWE 2K25 Dunk & Destruction DLC pack. This sparked rumours that the star could not only return to the ring, but might do so with WWE.
The star began his career in the mid-1990s before debuting with TNA in 2002. He remained with the company until 2019, becoming one of the biggest stars it has ever seen in the process.
In early 2019, Abyss signed with WWE and has worked backstage as a producer ever since.
Despite those hopes from fans, Abyss confirmed in an interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp that he has no plans to wrestle again, confirming that he’s happy working as a producer. However, he would be open to appearing on-screen as “Joseph Park” in the right circumstances.
To answer quite frankly, I’m done. I don’t have plans to ever wrestle again,
Never say never, but I don’t see it in the cards, and I don’t want it in the cards. I’m so happy what I’m doing as a producer.”
Abyss also confirmed that he nearly joined WWE on several occasions in the 2000s, but ultimately decided to stay with TNA.
TNA Legend Abyss Should Have Joined WWE Earlier
Although he was content in TNA, Kurt Angle had previously suggested that Abyss should have joined WWE while he was at the peak of his in-ring powers. Angle added that Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels would also have excelled with the sports entertainment giant.
Angle spent 10 years with TNA between 2006 and 2016, where he won the World Championship six times while notching up several other major accolades.
