TNA Star Won’t Rule Out John Cena Appearance

John Cena on WWE Raw

A veteran TNA wrestler isn’t shutting the door on WWE legend John Cena making an appearance in the promotion.

The retirement tour of WWE legend John Cena will begin at the Royal Rumble in Indianapolis on February 1st. That will be Cena’s first match since the night after WrestleMania 40 and it’s also the first match in Cena’s final year as a pro wrestler.

Ever since John Cena announced that 2025 will be his final year as a pro wrestler, a lot of people have called him out for a match and that includes people outside of WWE.

After a multi-year partnership was announced between WWE and TNA, people from the TNA side have even suggested that Cena could appear there. Joe Hendry is the TNA World Champion who has made it clear that he wants a match with Cena on Big Match John’s retirement tour.

“John Cena. Let me tell you why. Look let’s let it continue. I have done all the things that I thought would be impossible. We’re in an era where anything can happen, and just before Genesis Triple H tweeted us, Shawn Michaels tweeted the show and Cena, who hadn’t tweeted about it before, tweeted the TNA logo on his Instagram. What kind of representative would I be for TNA if I didn’t call out John Cena?”

When Hendry was asked if he could hang with Cena on the microphone, the powerful Hendry expressed confidence.

“1000%. I love it, because when John Cena gets on that microphone he tells the truth, and I genuinely, honestly believe that people haven’t seen what I can truly do on the microphone yet. I feel so comfortable going out there with nothing prepared, and to me John Cena in the top, top echelon of talkers ever in this business.

If you don’t invite that challenge to try and step up then you are not challenging yourself. I want it, I know how powerful he is on that microphone, but I believe I can hang with Cena.”

John Cena Appearing In TNA Isn’t Something Matt Hardy Would Rule Out

Matt Hardy is a TNA Tag Team Champion with his brother Jeff Hardy and the Hardys are considered leaders in the company. Matt was also a part of WWE during Cena’s rise in the mid-2000s which saw Cena become the undisputed top WWE star for over a decade.

While speaking on his podcast, The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy. the former TNA World Champion said it could happen.

“Maybe. I mean, John’s a guy who knows how to do things that garner a lot of chatter and that is something that would garner a lot of chatter, especially if they put him in a good position where he looks favorable and was doing good stuff.”

“I wouldn’t rule it out of the realm of possibility, especially knowing John Cena. I feel like he’s going to go out with a bang over the course of this year. Him dropping in, just imagine him shaking up at TNA being advertised for the Slammiversary at the PBS Arena, right? That would be something that would be pretty amazing.”

In addition to the Royal Rumble, WWE has been heavily promoting John Cena at Elimination Chamber in Toronto on February 1 as well. Cena will also be part of WrestleMania 41 for his final WrestleMania match on April 19th or 20th depending on what day he wrestles.
