TNA President Carlos Silva Fires Back At Criticism Of WWE Crossover

Santino Marella & Mike Santana represent TNA in NXT

Carlos Silva continues to defend TNA.

After months of working side by side, the on-screen relationship between NXT and TNA has taken an abrupt turn. The two sides are now at war and will square off at Showdown on October 7, an event designed to mirror WWE’s Invasion pay-per-view from 2001.

The special will feature men’s and women’s Survivor Series-style elimination matches, but at present, stars such as Jordynne Grace and Joe Hendry aren’t scheduled to be involved. This has only heightened criticism from fans around the entire storyline, which many have claimed lacks logic and appears rushed.

Despite that criticism, company President Carlos Silva remains unmoved. In a new interview with the Battleground Podcast, Silva dismissed social media “moaning,” adding that there’s a bigger picture at play.

“We’re still TNA, and we’ve always been TNA. Look, you can read on socials, there’s moaning, there’s this, of course, that’s all part of building the product and building the storylines,” Silva said. “I think WWE and NXT both understand that TNA is its own property, the same way they understand that AAA is their own property, and that NXT is their own property.”

TNA Boss Issues Joe Hendry Denial

During the same interview, Carlos Silva denied that Joe Hendry is now “with WWE” despite recent on-screen comments from Robert Roode. In a backstage segment on a recent episode of NXT, Roode said that it might be time for Hendry to focus on the NXT Championship now that he’s with the brand.

Silva said that Hendry is still under contract with TNA, but didn’t give any assurances about his long-term future.

It was recently reported that the Scottish star is being “phased out” of the company as his expected move to WWE inches ever closer. That report claimed that Hendry is expected to become part of WWE full-time in early 2026.

Speaking elsewhere, Carlos Silva confirmed that TNA is now in “active negotiations” with one partner regarding a new TV deal. There’s no word on who the prospective partner is.
