TNA Bosses Accused Of Serious Naivety After The Undertaker Attack
Those in charge of TNA have been accused of serious naivety after The Undertaker took out their champion on NXT.
For months, WWE and TNA have been in a partnership that has seen TNA and NXT stars exchange places and, in recent weeks, even titles.
The highest-profile consequence of the partnership saw then-TNA World Champion Joe Hendry make a surprise WrestleMania debut as Randy Orton’s opponent. Orton saw off Hendry in three minutes, but many argued that Hendry’s mere presence on the show was good for TNA.
NXT star Trick Williams then went on to defeat Hendry for the title, and at Slammiversary, things got even worse for TNA as NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne captured the TNA Knockouts Title.
The Undertaker Just The Latest Issue For TNA
The Undertaker dropped Trick Williams with a chokeslam on NXT TV, and it has been argued that the optics might not be great for TNA to see their champion get destroyed by a 60-year-old man.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained why he thinks TNA might be a bit too trusting when it comes to on-screen developments in their partnership with WWE:
I feel that the people running TNA are incredibly naive to perception in professional wrestling. I think they believe a lot of the bullsh*t that everyone knows is bullsh*t, like “Oh, it’s great our guy got on WrestleMania and got squashed in 3 minutes. Oh, it’s great our champion is from another company because we’re doing an angle where all our champions are from another company [and] he just got squashed by a guy he’s not even having a match with!”
