TNA Boss Denies Company Is Making Major Policy Change
TNA is favouring evolution over revolution.
On May 3, it was reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider that TNA was set to ban the deliberate use of blood in matches.
In the case of “hardway” blood or something like a bloody mouth, it was noted that this is sometimes unavoidable and will apparently go unpunished. However, it was claimed that “heavy bloodletting” is now a thing of the past.
Bryan Alvarez added in his own report that TNA is “taking a break from the blade.”
Talk Of TNA Blood Ban Overblown
Despite those reports, it seems the reality is a little different. TNA President Carlos Silva has told The Takedown on SI that deliberate use of blood in matches isn’t banned, however, there is an awareness about how it could be viewed by potential advertisers and media rights partners.
Silva stated that the talent meeting mentioned by Johnson was to encourage the locker room to use blood and violent spots more sparingly after “two extreme instances in a short space of time.” He added that the creative team is onboard with the new plan and is working to make blood use more impactful.
Given that the promotion regularly tapes several shows one after the other, Silva also highlighted how blood damaging the canvas can cause logistical issues.
Meanwhile, it’s been announced that several TNA stars, including World Champion Joe Hendry, will be heading to AAA. Hendry will be joined by X-Division Champion Moose and World Tag Team Champions Nic and Ryan Nemeth at AAA’s Triplemania Regia event on June 15 in Monterrey.
The clock is ticking on Hendry’s time with the company following reports that he’s expected to sign with WWE later in 2025.
