TNA Boss Responds To Criticism Of WWE Winners At Slammiversary
Fans haven’t reacted well to both of TNA’s top championships being held by WWE stars.
Slammiversary 2025 was hyped as not only the biggest TNA event of the year, but the biggest in recent company history.
In the main event, NXT’s Trick Williams took on Joe Hendry and Mike Santana with the TNA World Championship on the line. However, despite Santana being a firm fan favourite in New York, it was Williams who again walked out with the gold to the shock of everyone in attendance.
A result made even more surprising by the fact that Masha Slamovich had earlier lost the Knockouts Championship to NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne. This means that both of the company’s top titles are now held by WWE Superstars.
Following the show, fans were quick to make their frustration known, but according to those in charge, there’s no reason to panic.
TNA Boss Undertands Fan Unrest
During a new interview with The Battleground Podcast, TNA President Carlos Silva was asked about the negative fan reaction to some of Slammiversary’s biggest moments. He said that the fact that people were talking about the show proves they care.
“How do you respond? You respond that I understand, and I get it. If you saw the look on my face, that’s all part of wrestling. There were some great payoffs at Slammiversary with Leon (Slater), and there are going to be some great payoffs as we build again to Bound for Glory. These are the paths that happen as you build these matchups.
For the fans, I guess what I would say is, I’m glad the fans are talking about it. That means we matter and they care. We care and we’re going to keep growing it together,”
On the July 22 edition of NXT, Trick Williams is set to be confronted by The Undertaker, while Jacy Jayne is also advertised to appear.
