TKO Allegedly Planning To Sell WWE To Saudi Arabia
WWE and Saudi Arabia have been linked in a significant partnership since 2018, when WWE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia entered a 10-year deal worth around $1 billion.
Over the past several years, Saudi Arabia has become a prime location for events like Crown Jewel, Night of Champions, and special episodes of weekly shows.
Next year, the Stamford-based company will host the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. It will be the first time this PLE will take place outside North America. In addition, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will host WrestleMania 43 in 2027.
WWE’s partnership with Saudi Arabia is deepening, and an ex-WWE star believes there is a big reason behind it.
Is WWE Slowly Being Set Up for a Saudi Buyout?
Speaking on his podcast, Stevie Richards suggested that WWE’s ongoing adjustments could be positioning the company for a sale to Saudi Arabia. He reasoned that tactics such as cutting costs, raising prices, showcasing fewer events, and maximizing profits align with preparing the company for a lucrative acquisition.
I look at this, and if people have countered us on this, if you don’t think that they’re setting it up to be sold and bought by Saudi Arabia, then you’re foolish. There’s no other way to cut salaries, cut people, raise ticket prices.
Never talk about the amount of people, but talk about the gate, the money you drew, the merch you sold. You’re literally setting it up to be sold.
You’re lowering all your overhead as much as possible, inflating the portfolio so that you maximize the amount of money you sell it for. That’s all they’re trying to do. (From 4:52)
