Shock Title Retirement At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam
There is one less title in AEW following Dynamite Grand Slam after it was shockingly retired on the show.
At the current count, there are eight official championships for the stars of All Elite Wrestling to compete for but there’s now one less than before following a big title match at Dynamite Grand Slam in New York City.
Just a few short miles from where ECW legend Taz created the FTW Championship, he was on the call as his son HOOK put the gold on the line against Roderick Strong. HOOK picked up the win and after the match, he and Strong showed respect to one another as The Undisputed Kingdom star put his usual antics to the side as he embraced HOOK.
Following that, HOOK was interviewed by Tony Schiavone who brought up the title’s history and HOOK surprised many as he thanked his opponents and the fans before he officially declared the FTW Championship was retired as he handed the belt over to an emotional Taz.
"All good things must come to an end" – HOOK

Who Has Held The AEW Title In AEW?
The FTW Title was created as an outsider’s title in ECW back in 1998 and during its time in that company, the belt was only held by its creator and Sabu.
The championship was introduced into AEW in 2020 with Brian Cage holding the gold before it was won by Ricky Starks, Jack Perry, and Chris Jericho. HOOK is the championship’s final title holder and the only man to have held the belt on three separate occasions.
AEW Dynamite Grand Slam also saw the debut of a former WWE star with a championship pedigree as they set their sights on Swerve Strickland.
