Tiffany Stratton Excited About WrestleMania After Controversial WWE Promo
Tiffany Stratton is trying to look on the bright side after being involved in a bizarre promo exchange on WWE SmackDown.
At WWE SmackDown in Chicago, Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton and her WrestleMania 41 opponent Charlotte Flair were involved in a “face to face” promo exchange with Wade Barrett serving as a moderator of sorts.
Going into that promo exchange, there wasn’t that much excitement about their WrestleMania match, but after the segment, it became the talk of the wrestling world because of what happened.
The segment went “off the rails” when the fans booed Flair loudly and it appeared as though Flair was thrown off by it. That led to Flair mocking Stratton’s squeaky voice, so Stratton said that Flair would be all alone after WrestleMania 41 without the title, just like in her personal life. Stratton also said Flair was 0-3, which was a reference to Flair being divorced three times.
After Stratton left the ring to try to get out of the situation, Flair responded with her own personal shot: “Hey Tiffany, is that why Kaiser is in my DMs?” The “Kaiser” that Flair mentioned is WWE superstar Ludwig Kaiser, who has been dating Stratton for a few years.
There was heat on both women over the incident with Fightful Select reporting that after Flair mocked Stratton’s voice, there was a feeling backstage that Stratton needed to “fight back,” but perhaps bringing up Flair’s divorce was too personal and considered to be ill-advised by people in the company.
“I Don’t Think She Really Expected Me To Stand Up To Her” – Tiffany Stratton
There is a big experience difference between Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton. Flair, who just turned 39, has been with WWE since 2012 and on the main roster for ten years while holding a record 14 Women’s Titles on the main roster. Stratton is 25 years old, signed with WWE less than four years ago, and is about to compete at her first WrestleMania.
In an interview with the Babyfaces podcast, Tiffany Stratton spoke about the promo exchange with Charlotte Flair by saying they did a very good job.
“Being so new into this business and being so new as champion, I don’t think she really expected me to stand up to her and I don’t think she expected me to almost clap back. All I have to say is, it’s live TV, stakes are high. We’re going into WrestleMania. I have the title, I want to keep the title. I’m going to pull out every stop that I can and people want to see our match.
I think we did a very good job of getting people wanting to see our match and invested in our story. Now, I’m ready to put on the best women’s match ever and ready to go to war.”
WWE has yet to announce any segment or match for Stratton or Flair for the next episode of SmackDown on April 11th.
