Tiffany Stratton Defends SummerSlam Match With Jade Cargill

Tiffany Stratton has looked back on her win over Jade Cargill.

At Night of Champions, Jade Cargill beat Asuka to win the Queen of the Ring tournament. However, perhaps more importantly, it earned her a shot at the Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.

However, before she was able to challenge for the gold, Cargill continued her rivalry with Naomi at Evolution. As was the case at WrestleMania 41, it was Cargill who scored the victory, this time in a violent No Holds Barred Match.

On the same card, Tiffany Stratton successfully defended the Women’s Championship against Trish Stratus.

Fast forward to night one of SummerSlam, and Cargill became the latest woman to be cast aside by Stratton, who grabbed victory in a little over seven minutes. The champion retained her title following the Prettiest Moonsault Ever.

Following the match, there was a sprinkling of criticism online, with some suggesting the match should have been longer. However, Stratton disagrees.

During an appearance on the Babyfaces podcast, Stratton was asked about how she felt about the match.

“We didn’t have this insane life or death story going into SummerSlam, so I didn’t feel like we needed an insane 40-minute match. It was a very competitive match. It was very fast. That’s all we really needed. I’m really pleased how my match went with Jade Cargill.”

On the August 15 edition of SmackDown, there were hints that the rivalry between Cargill and Stratton might not be over. During the show, the champion was confronted by both Cargill and Nia Jax, who made it clear they’re looking for a title shot.

Meanwhile, the Women’s World Championship picture has been thrown into chaos on Raw after Naomi announced she’s pregnant. As a result, she was forced to vacate the championship.
