Tiffany Stratton Puts Charlotte Flair In Her Place At WWE WrestleMania

WrestleMania saw perhaps no more personal a match than when Charlotte Flair challenged Tiffany Stratton for her WWE Women’s Championship.

Charlotte Flair won the Royal Rumble as she returned to a WWE ring for the first time in over a year. That booked her another title match at WrestleMania and Flair quickly set her sights on the WWE Women’s Title held by Tiffany Stratton. But if anyone thought this was going to be a straightforward build to a title match, that quickly proved not to be the case.

On the April 4 edition of SmackDown, the storyline between Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton became a little too real. During a promo segment, the pair quickly decided following the script wasn’t for them and began trading increasingly personal insults. This saw Flair mock Stratton’s voice, while Stratton took repeated shots at Flair about her recent divorce.

The tension was reportedly in response to a segment a week earlier where Flair repeatedly talked over Stratton in a side-by-side interview. Tiffany Stratton claimed Charlotte Flair buried her in that segment, but when they got to Las Vegas, the time for talking was over.

Tiffany Stratton Defeats The Queen

At WrestleMania 41, despite being the champion, Tiffany Stratton made her entrance first, bursting out of a life-size Barbie box while Charlotte Flair arrived on the stage in a Rolls-Royce. One report suggested WWE expected this match to get “physical” and it did not disappoint in that regard.

A sometimes messy affair broke down when Stratton targeted the surgically-repaired knee that kept Flair out of action for a year. In the end, it was a Prettiest Moonsault Ever that proved to be the difference as she retained her WWE Women’s Championship in her WrestleMania debut.
