Tiffany Stratton & Charlotte Flair Go Off Script On WWE SmackDown

Tiffany Stratton WWE SmackDown

Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair said some things they weren’t supposed to say during an awkward WWE SmackDown segment.

At WrestleMania 41, Tiffany Stratton will defend the WWE Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair, who won the Women’s Royal Rumble after missing over a year of action. It was Flair’s choice to pick Stratton rather than the Women’s World Champion.

The rivalry between Stratton and Flair has escalated in recent weeks with a wild brawl between the two women, along with a split-screen promo exchange that felt like Flair outsmarted her less experienced rival.

On WWE SmackDown in Chicago, Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair had a “Face to Face” segment moderated by announcer Wade Barrett. The two women were supposed to build up interest for their WrestleMania match, but instead, it went off the rails, and it got very personal.

It was obvious early in the segment that the Chicago fans were not going to let Charlotte Flair say much because she was booed loudly during the entire segment. Barrett wanted Flair to explain why she chose Stratton as her WrestleMania opponent and Flair said she wanted to show there was no comparison to her. Tiffany Stratton responded by saying that Flair’s biggest competitor has been the fans and told Flair she will never win that battle.

Stratton told Flair that she acts like nothing bothers her, but then she’s crying on a talk show. That was a reference to Flair going on Sherri Shepherd’s show this week, where she broke down in tears talking about her divorce from WWE superstar Andrade. Stratton said no matter how many titles Charlotte wins, she’ll always come second to her daddy Ric Flair, and at WrestleMania, she’ll come second to Stratton.

It was clear that Flair had a tough time responding because the fans were booing loudly as Charlotte spoke about her opponents in the past mentioning Ric Flair often. The fans didn’t let Flair speak, so Flair said, “This is cool” sarcastically and seemed rattled by it.

The promo became even more personal when Stratton claimed that when Flair was 25 years old, she was trying to be a volleyball player and “drinking in her daddy’s basement.” Meanwhile, Stratton is going into WrestleMania as a 25-year-old WWE Women’s Champion. Stratton said Flair may be 4-3 at WrestleMania, but outside the ring, she ain’t the queen of s**t.

In response to that, Flair mocked Stratton for having a squeaky voice. Stratton called Flair a nepo baby, so Flair said she was the #1 nepo queen.

During the promo’s final moments, it became even more awkward. Stratton said that when she beats Flair at WrestleMania, Flair will be like she is outside of the ring – alone. There was an “ooohhh” reaction from the crowd. Stratton said that record is 0-3, which was a reference to Flair being divorced three times. At that point, Stratton left the ring.

Feeling like she needed to get a final word in, Flair fired off one final line: “Hey Tiffany, is that why Kaiser is in my DMs?” That was a reference to Stratton dating WWE’s Ludwig Kaiser for a few years, which the couple has revealed in numerous interviews, although it hasn’t been used in WWE storylines. Stratton walked away at that point with her title held high.

After the segment, Wrestlevotes on X/Twitter reported that Stratton and Flair went off script.

Charlotte & Tiffany said very little of what was in the rundown for them. Off script quite a bit.

WWE Edits Tiffany Stratton-Charlotte Promo

As usual, WWE posted clips of the Stratton-Flair promo exchange on X/Twitter and a video on YouTube, but it was edited.

The parts that WWE included on social media were the beginning of the promo when Flair bragged about not having competition, and Stratton replied, saying that Flair’s biggest competition was the fans.

In the YouTube clip, it ends after Stratton said Flair was drinking in her daddy’s basement at 25 years old, while Stratton is going into WrestleMania as the champion at 25 years old. The official WWE accounts did not include the lines about Flair being 0-3 (a reference to divorces) or Kaiser being in Flair’s DMs.
