Things “Got Weird” When Vince McMahon Returned To WWE In 2023

Vince McMahon’s return to WWE changed things.

In January 2023, Vince McMahon forced his way back onto WWE’s Board of Directors after claiming he was “retiring” the previous July.

His departure came after it was reported that he’d paid almost $20 million to several women to hide allegations of sexual misconduct.

With McMahon back in the fold, he began to get involved in creative once again, seemingly undercutting many of the changes made under Triple H. Meanwhile, he was also working behind the scenes to secure the sale of the company.

However, Vince McMahon’s second tenure with WWE came to an end in January 2024 after he was named as a defendant in a sex trafficking lawsuit filed by former employee Janel Grant.

Luke Gallows Recalls Vince McMahon’s Return

During a new interview with PWMania, Luke Gallows recalled returning to WWE in October 2022 after McMahon had left the company. He went on to explain how things changed once the former Chairman came back.

“Yeah, when we came back in October of 22, it felt great. It felt fresh. It felt new. And then, you know, a few short months later, we’re in New York, and we’re getting ready to leave the building, and a limousine pulls up, and we see a mustachioed man pop out, and it was Vince McMahon coming back for the first time.

And I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors there, but from that point on, everything certainly got weird, whether it was the Vince thing and then the eventual sale to TKO, and however that timeline worked, but you know, you could feel again, the winds of change.”

Several WWE Superstars, both past and present, recently attended Vince McMahon’s 80th birthday party. This included big names such as John Cena, The Undertaker, Drew McIntyre, and Sheamus.

Despite the inevitable speculation this created, WWE sources have insisted there are no plans to bring back Vince McMahon.
