The Young Bucks Turned Down “Fantastic” NJPW Offer

The Young Bucks

AEW stars The Young Bucks have claimed they turned down a big offer from NJPW that could have seen them return to the Tokyo Dome.

The Young Bucks last competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 13 when they were part of a three-way tag team match for the IWGP Tag Team Champions that also involved the Guerillas of Destiny and EVIL and Sanada.

Matt and Nick Jackson made themselves household names during their time in NJPW as well as Ring of Honor through their exploits as key members of Bullet Club. However, their last New Japan outing came under a cloud as it took place three days after the announcement of AEW. Relations between the upstart AEW and NJPW remained cold under New Japan’s previous management.

However, at Wrestle Kingdom 17, Kenny Omega returned to NJPW for the first time in four years as he defeated Will Ospreay for the IWGP US Championship in a critically acclaimed match. Now speaking to Sports Illustrated, The Young Bucks have revealed that they could have made a sensational return to the Tokyo Dome. Nick Jackson said that the offer was for a match and to second Omega for his bout:

“We were actually asked to wrestle and be in Kenny’s corner. But Matt and I had vacation plans that week. Maybe next year. Who knows?”
