The Young Bucks Ready To Return To Work After NJPW Title Loss
After a surprise title loss in NJPW, it seems The Young Bucks have teased their return to AEW.
At Wrestle Dynasty, The Young Bucks captured the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships for the second time. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson defeated United Empire’s Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb as well as the Los Ingobernables De Japon team of Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi in a wild three-way bout that marked their triumphant return to NJPW after six years away.
At New Japan’s New Beginning event in Osaka, The Young Bucks defended their title against Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi. Naito and Takahashi were the team not pinned in the original three-way title match.
After a rough few months for The Bucks looked to have turned a corner, disaster struck in Osaka. Naito and Takahashi picked up the win ending Matthew and Nicholas’ title reign at just 35 days.
Young Bucks Hint At AEW Return
Speaking after that match, Matthew Jackson hinted at a return to AEW for The Young Bucks while speaking about how special their return to NJPW had been:
I will say this: Coming back to Japan has been the experience of my life. I never thought I’d be able to come back here. For my mental health, it felt like we had to come back home, return to where it all started for The Young Bucks, and make things right and I feel like now… we’re better men. We’ve mended those fences and I think it’s time to come back to work and I don’t know immediately, but soon.
We’re getting there. We’ve healed. We had to go on another journey, we’re globetrotting men. We travel the world and we do what we do best, better than anybody and even tonight, we still looked talented as hell. You gotta admit that. You heard Osaka, you heard Osaka. We have a connection with this place, with this city.
