The Young Bucks Chasing Gold At AEW/NJPW Wrestle Dynasty

AEW The Young Bucks

The Young Bucks are heading to Japan for Wrestle Dynasty and now the AEW EVPs have revealed what they’ll be doing on that show.

Back in July, AEW and NJPW announced the creation of Wrestle Dynasty. The cross-promotional show which will also feature talent from CMLL, ROH, and Stardom is set to take place on January 5th, just 24 hours after Wrestle Kingdom at the Tokyo Dome.

In October, The Young Bucks confirmed they’d be on the card for Wrestle Dynasty but a lot has changed for Matthew and Nicholas Jackson since then.

On Fright Night Dynamite at the end of October, The Young Bucks lost the AEW World Tag Team Championship to Private Party. With Jon Moxley’s Death Riders bringing chaos to AEW and the EVPs proving unwilling to stand up for the company they helped create, The Bucks decided they’d be working from home and high-tailed it from the arena not being seen since.

The Young Bucks Want New Japan Gold

Now The Young Bucks have appeared – albeit at home – in New Japan Pro Wrestling announcing that at Wrestle Dynasty they want a shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. That title is currently held by the United Empire’s Great-O-Khan and HENARE.

This will mark the first time that the Young Bucks have appeared in Japan since leaving NJPW in 2019. Their last match took place at Wrestle Kingdom 13 where they lost the IWGP Tag Team Championship in a three-way match against Guerrillas of Destiny and Los Ingobernables de JapĆ³n.

The Young Bucks may well come face-to-face with someone very familiar in Tokyo as Kenny Omega will return to action after a year out due to serious illness as he faces one of NJPW’s fastest-rising stars.
