The Young Bucks Confronted By Former Friend On AEW Dynamite

Young Bucks AEW

The Young Bucks were back on AEW Dynamite, where a former friend decided to confront them.

During the AEW Dynasty main event, Swerve Strickland looked like he was about to beat Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title when suddenly the lights went out in the building.

When the lights came back on, The Young Bucks were in the ring, and they hit Swerve with the BTE Trigger double knee to put him down. The referee never saw it because he was out of the ring. Moxley crawled over to Swerve, and the referee miraculously recovered in time to count the pinfall to give Moxley the win.

Going into AEW Dynamite in Baltimore, the big question that fans wanted to know was, “Why did The Young Bucks do what they did at Dynasty?”

The opening match on Dynamite saw the AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defeated Katsuyori Shibata in a singles match. After the match, The Young Bucks duo of Matthew & Nicholas Jackson made their return to AEW television after more than five months off.

Nicholas Jackson wanted the fans to show some respect for AEW’s founding fathers, The Young Bucks. Nick said people are wondering why they cost Swerve Strickland the AEW World Championship. Nick claimed they did it for their good friend “Hangman” Adam Page. Nick said that Page never wanted Swerve to be the champion again, so the Bucks did it for him. Nick said they love Hangman, and they knew Hangman loves them too.

Matthew Jackson said that what he did for the Death Riders was a peace offering because they had no problem with them. Matt said that they both want to see the locker room rise to the occasion and for AEW to be the best, so the Bucks agree with that.

According to Matthew, Moxley has taken over AEW while capturing the AEW World Title as well. Matthew wondered what it would be like if the Death Riders and The Elite were together. Matt wanted to discuss a little bit of business with Jon Moxley and his group. That’s when the interruption happened.

Kenny Omega Confronts The Young Bucks On AEW Dynamite

The AEW International Champion Kenny Omega got a huge ovation as he stood in the aisle to address The Young Bucks.

“So you did this all for your friends, huh? Mox. Hanger. You forgot to do me, but I remember the last time we met and if memory serves me correctly, it was when you pushed you off a stretcher that was taking me to a hospital. And I never forgot. When I came back to AEW I said it was for my legacy and the safety of this company. Not for revenge. What we’re trying to do is bring back the feeling.

The last time we saw you on AEW we saw you shredding some documents. We all know how these guys live. They love bragging about their money. Yes, you were tearing up receipts of private jets and other luxury items, but it doesn’t matter. The part that matters is that if it wasn’t because of the Death Riders, it was you two that almost killed the company that I almost gave my life and soul for.

Quite frankly, now that we’ve gotten to this point, I could go on and on. Let’s just cut out the middle man and I’ll come to the ring and fight.” (h/t AEW)

As Omega approached the ring, Kazuchika Okada, the AEW Continental Champion, made his way down to the ring. Okada was in The Elite with The Young Bucks, so he was there to support his friends even though they had been away from AEW for over five months.

Swerve Strickland was the next man to join the fun with a steel chair in his hand. Swerve got into the ring, so The Young Bucks and Okada left the ring. Swerve wanted revenge because The Young Bucks cost him the AEW World Title, but it wasn’t going to happen on this night. Omega touched knuckles with Swerve and left.

The story will likely continue in the weeks and months ahead as AEW builds to the Double or Nothing PPV on May 25th.
