The Young Bucks Celebrate Anniversary With “Worst Ever Photo”

AEW The Young Bucks

The Young Bucks are celebrating a significant wrestling anniversary while Nicholas Jackson decided to share a unique photo in honor of the occasion.

It was 20 years ago this week when The Young Bucks duo of Matthew & Nicholas Jackson started their careers as professional wrestlers.

After spending many years working for promotions like Total Nonstop Action (TNA), Ring of Honor (ROH), New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and other places, The Young Bucks were founders of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in January 2019.

Since the birth of AEW in 2019, The Young Bucks have been Executive Vice Presidents in the company. As part of their 2024 heel turn, they used their EVP roles to exert their power in situations and upset the fans as well as the wrestlers in the company.

In a post on Instagram, Nicholas Jackson mentioned the 20-year anniversary of The Young Bucks while sharing a photo of the duo with some interesting facial hair.

“I just learned that today is the 20th year anniversary of when we debuted in wrestling. So naturally I picked the worst photo possible of us to celebrate this historic anniversary! Thanks everyone who’s ever supported us. We aren’t young anymore but we will forever be your Young Bucks.”

Matt Jackson is 39 years old while Nick Jackson is 35 years old meaning Nick started wrestling with his brother when he was just 15 years old.

Tony Khan To Blame For The Young Bucks Booking

The Young Bucks won the AEW Tag Team Titles for the third time at AEW Revolution in April at the Dynasty PPV. Since then, they have defended the AEW Tag Team Titles zero times. The Young Bucks have competed in big matches like Anarchy in the Arena (a victory) and Blood & Guts, which was a loss for their team.

On the June 19th episode of AEW Dynamite, The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) beat The Young Bucks in a non-title match that is supposed to grant The Acclaimed a Tag Team Title match. However, as of this writing, the title match hasn’t happened and AEW has yet to announce when the title match will take place.

As for why The Young Bucks don’t wrestle more often in AEW, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer said it’s because of AEW’s Owner Tony Khan, who books the shows.

“I gotta say this because people have taken this out on the Bucks. Listen, everybody, if you think that Young Bucks book their own stuff, they don’t. If you are upset about the Young Bucks not being on TV, if you are upset about the Bucks not defending their tag team titles. There is one person you can be upset at and that is Tony Khan, because whatever contract they signed it was for X number of dates, and he has not wanted to pay them.”

“Maybe he’s got some plans for the end of the year or they used the number of dates at the beginning of the year. I don’t know what it is, but it isn’t the Young Bucks deciding ‘Hey we are going to take the summer off and not defend our tag team titles’.”

“It is like Brock Lesnar, remember people getting mad for Brock never showing up, for somehow Brock was calling the shots. It is like he had X number of dates, they did not want to pay him for extended periods of time. So they told him to stay home, and he farmed and drank whole milk and when they wanted they called him back to work. And that is exactly what the Bucks will do when they get the call.”

The next AEW pay-per-view is All In on August 25th at London, England’s Wembley Stadium. The Young Bucks will likely be on the show, but they have yet to be announced for a match at that event.
