The Young Bucks Thanked Recent AEW Opponents For Specific Reason

Young Bucks AEW

Following a huge match, The Young Bucks thanked two of AEW’s biggest names for helping them.

The Young Bucks are going through changes in AEW. When AEW was announced in January 2019, it was well-known that the Young Bucks duo of Matthew & Nicholas Jackson were Executive Vice Presidents in the company.

As the years went on, whenever the Bucks were in heel roles, they played into those EVP job titles as a way to get heat with the fans.

At AEW All In Texas, The Young Bucks lost a high-stakes tag team match against Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay, where the stipulation was that the Bucks would no longer be EVPs (in storyline) if they lost. Had Strickland and Ospreay lost, then neither of them would get an AEW World Title shot in one year.

Since the All In match, the Bucks have lost their own dressing room and no longer receive fancy graphics for their entrance. Additionally, the graphics now display “Talent Name” instead of their actual names.

While speaking to Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Nick Jackson talked about how they enjoy making fun of themselves.

“We love to make fun of ourselves. If you can’t be the butt of a joke in this business sometimes, you probably picked a bad profession. We also like to reinvent our character work and that’s exactly what this has given us. We’ve learned from guys like [Chris] Jericho who always changed with the times, and we take pride in it.”

Matt Jackson went on to talk about their comedic skills and what he tells members of his family about it.

“My mother-in-law and kids specifically, when they tell me how embarrassed they are for me, I can’t help but laugh when I tell them that this was our idea.

We’re born to play these types of roles. Many wrestlers in the business prefer not to take on these types of stories, which immediately makes us more interested in doing them. I think there’s a charm in being self-deprecating.

There’s also a skill in being funny but still being able to go in the ring at the same time. Kurt Angle is a great example of that. I think it makes you more of an all-around entertaining wrestler.”

Why The Young Bucks Thanked Swerve Strickland And Will Ospreay After All In

Regarding the All In Texas match, Matt Jackson thanked their opponents for helping them have fun, as Strickland specifically mentioned to them.

“I thanked both men after the match for ‘bringing out that guy again. I knew he was still in there somewhere.’ Swerve mentioned it being a personal goal of his to get us to start having that type of fun again. It’s been a glorious time since being back, thanks in large part to him.”

The Young Bucks will be in action on the August 6th edition of AEW Dynamite when they face Brodido, aka Brody King and Bandido. The match is in the semifinals of a World Tag Team Title Eliminator tournament.
