The WWE Hall Of Famer Who Says Rob Van Dam’s Unique Style Makes Opponents “Uncomfortable”

The WWE Hall Of Famer Who Says Rob Van Dam’s Unique Style Makes Opponents

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has weighed in on Rob Van Dam’s distinctive in-ring style, suggesting that many wrestlers found it difficult to adjust to his unorthodox approach.

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff discussed how Rob Van Dam’s unpredictable offence often challenged those accustomed to more traditional wrestling techniques. Wrestlers typically spend years refining familiar sequences, but Van Dam’s dynamic approach forced them to adapt on the fly.

“I think there were wrestlers who were uncomfortable working with Rob because his style was so unique, and it was something they weren’t used to,” Bischoff explained. “They get thousands of reps with a lot of the same moves that you see over and over and over and over and over again, and as great as those moves are, they’re still sequences and individual moves that many of those talents have done thousands of times. So, it’s just natural almost, it’s almost a reflex, it becomes second nature, until you wrestle someone like Rob, and it comes at you from different angles.”

Van Dam, known for his high-flying offence and unorthodox striking, brought a level of unpredictability that set him apart from his peers. Bischoff noted that wrestling Van Dam required precise timing, as even a slight misstep could disrupt the flow of a match.

Throughout his career, Van Dam earned recognition for his athleticism and innovative offence, capturing championships in both WWE and ECW. While his style may have been a challenge for some, it also cemented his status as one of the most exciting and influential performers of his era.
