The WWE Hall Of Famer Who Says Michael Cole Is The GOAT Wrestling Announcer
WWE Hall of Famer JBL has revealed his picks for the top three wrestling announcers of all time, with Michael Cole taking the coveted number one spot.
The former WWE Champion shared his thoughts on the Something to Wrestle podcast, praising Cole and highlighting his enduring impact on the industry.
Michael, to me, is the GOAT. Michael is the greatest of all time, period, and that’s no offence at all to our good friends JR and Gordon Solie, who I did not know.
JBL stated, underscoring his admiration for his former broadcast partner. JBL’s assertion elevates Cole above iconic figures such as Jim Ross and Gordon Solie, two names that have become synonymous with professional wrestling’s most celebrated eras. Ross, often regarded as the voice of wrestling’s Attitude Era, has been a fan favourite for decades. Meanwhile, Solie, known as “The Dean of Wrestling Announcers,” is remembered for his pioneering work and distinctive style. Reflecting on his rankings, JBL expressed respect for all three announcers, emphasising their pivotal roles in wrestling’s evolution.
JR was legendary; we’re talking about great and greater; we’re not talking about great and one that’s not good.
JBL explained, acknowledging the immense talent across the board. When asked to name his definitive top three, JBL didn’t hesitate.
I put Michael Cole, Gordon Solie, and Jim Ross as the top three.
Which Former WWE Champion Did JBL Recall Knowing Was “One Of The Boys” When He First Met Them?
JBL spoke about his first meeting with John Cena when Cena first started working for WWE and how he met him in catering. He said that he knew Cena was one of the boys due to his impressive physique, but he didn’t know if Cena had what it takes to be a top star in wrestling just upon his first meeting with him.
