The WWE Hall Of Famer Who Praised Rey Mysterio’s Innovation And Impact On Wrestling

WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts has spoken highly of Rey Mysterio, praising his unique style and innovation that set him apart from the moment he arrived in the United States wrestling scene.

Speaking on his The Snake Pit podcast, Jake Roberts reflected on Rey Mysterio’s early career and what made him stand out among other luchadores. He noted that Mysterio’s ability to constantly bring something new to the ring helped him rise above the rest.

“He was just so damn good and innovative, man,” Roberts said. “He brought something different to the table every night. But he was just that good, he stood out in front, and cream always rises to the top, and it was always there, man.”

Trained by his uncle Rey Misterio, Mysterio began wrestling in Mexico at just 14 years old. His exceptional talent quickly turned heads, leading to his U.S. debut in 1995 for Paul Heyman’s ECW promotion. His breathtaking high-flying offence helped redefine cruiserweight wrestling in North America.

Following his ECW success, Mysterio joined WCW, where he became a standout in the company’s thriving Cruiserweight division. His performances helped reshape the perception of smaller wrestlers in an industry traditionally dominated by larger athletes.

In 2002, Mysterio signed with WWE, where he cemented his legacy as one of the most celebrated luchadores in history. His career has spanned decades, earning him multiple world championships and a well-deserved induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.
