The Viking Raiders tag team made their presence felt after WWE Smackdown when they attacked Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.
It is rare for WWE to do storyline advancement on “Digital Exclusive” clips rather than their TV shows, but they decided to go that route this week.
In the main event of this week’s January 6th edition of WWE Smackdown, The Usos defeated the “The Banger Bros” team of former WWE Champions Drew McIntyre and Sheamus. It was not a clean win because Jimmy rolled up Sheamus for the pinfall while Jey put his foot on Jimmy’s back for extra leverage, which was not seen by the referee. It’s also blatant cheating, but since the referee never saw it, the result stands.
After Smackdown ended, WWE kept the cameras rolling and released a video to social media as well as YouTube that saw the Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar) attack Drew and Sheamus.
The video started with Drew and Sheamus in the ring looking towards The Usos in the entrance area. The commentary team of Michael Cole and Wade Barrett were still on the call as the Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar) attacked. Erik threw Drew shoulder-first into a ring post and Ivar did the same thing to Sheamus. Valhalla was at ringside watching on.
That wasn’t all because Erik and Ivar hit their Ragnarox double-team Powerbomb on Sheamus. Erik hit a running knee on McIntyre followed by the Ragnarok on McIntyre as well. The Viking Raiders left at that point.
All of this was likely done because it’s the start of a new storyline on Smackdown with The Viking Raiders targeting the popular team of Sheamus & McIntyre to try to send the message that the Viking Raiders are a force to be reckoned with.
