The Usos Dream Of Facing Each Other In WrestleMania Singles Match

The Usos have expressed their desire to have a singles match against each other at WrestleMania.

Even though they aren’t currently the WWE Tag Team Champions, The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) are having the best run of their careers as arguably the greatest tag team in WWE history.

It was three months ago at WrestleMania 39 when The Usos defended the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles against Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn in the main event of WrestleMania Saturday. The Usos lost that match to put an end to their record-setting title reign, but just the fact that it was the first Tag Team Title match to main event WrestleMania is an incredible accomplishment.

Following their WrestleMania title loss, things have fallen apart for The Bloodline group led by The Usos’ cousin Roman Reigns, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. While Jimmy & Jey’s younger brother Solo Sikoa has shown his loyalty towards Reigns, The Usos have broken free from The Tribal Chief’s grip.

That led to the main event of Money in the Bank last night in London, England in front of a raucous crowd. The Usos beat Reigns & Sikoa in that match with Jey pinning his cousin Roman clean after an Uso Splash. It was the first time Reigns has been pinned since December 2019.

While The Usos are on top of the WWE Universe right now, they also recently expressed a desire to have a match against each other and they want to do it at WrestleMania.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport prior to Money in the Bank, Jimmy and Jey Uso talked about the possibility of being singles wrestlers.

Jimmy: “We’re twins. Off the bat, that’s the first thing you notice. You automatically associate twins with teammates. That’s just what we are. I remember coming in and remember hearing that tag teams aren’t look at as the top teir, the top act in WWE.”

Jey: “You always had different guys who got put together. They never had matching outfits. What tag team (wrestling) really was, Demolition, the Hardys, the real ones, we wanted to carry that. We always had that in our brain. Now, so many doors opened to where, if Jimmy wants to go singles, I support him. If I want to go, he’ll support me. We can always come back together. We always have each other’s back.”

Jimmy: “We never pitched a split. This naturally, organically happened. If [Jey] is the one right now, let’s go—Vice versa. What’s kept us wanting to be a tag team has put us here today. We’ve been so, ‘we’re going to be the best damn tag team in the world,’ which we are. Now we also have a chance to be the best damn singles champion ever.”

When asked if they want to do a Jimmy vs. Jey match some day, they admitted that they have talked about it.

Jimmy: “We haven’t pitched it yet, but we’re constantly saying it to each other.”

Jey: “Before our career is done. That’s our number one dream of happening. Me vs. him at WrestleMania. It’s like back in the living room. From day one, this is what we always wanted to do. I want my dad to be involved. I want my whole family to run this thing. Me being against my brother, my heart would be filled with joy.”

As for what’s next for The Usos, since Jey pinned Roman clean, it is expected that Jey might face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
