The Undertaker Losing At WWE WrestleMania 30: “Worst Decision In Wrestling History”

The Undertaker WrestleMania 30 Loss

A wrestling legend thinks that WWE made a mistake when The Undertaker’s undefeated streak ended at WrestleMania 30.

It was in 2002 when The Undertaker had a rivalry with a young WWE Champion named Brock Lesnar. By the time that feud was done, Lesnar was established as a future legend just because he got to work with a legend like Taker.

When The Undertaker faced Brock Lesnar over a decade later at WrestleMania 30 in 2014, many people likely thought that Taker would win since he was 21-0 at WrestleMania going into the match.

For some WWE fans, The Undertaker defending “The Streak” at WrestleMania was more important than any title match or anything else that happens on the show. That’s how much fans were invested in whether Taker would win or lose at the biggest show of the year.

During their clash at WrestleMania 30, Lesnar won clean with a third F5, and “The Streak” was over. Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman had a stunned look on his face. In the years that followed, Heyman would brag about how Lesner was the “one in 21-1” since Taker’s streak had ended.

As for The Undertaker, he doesn’t even remember the match because he suffered a concussion and was taken to the hospital after the match.

Tommy Dreamer Feels WWE Was Wrong To Have The Undertaker Lose At WrestleMania

It has been confirmed by many people including the man himself that former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was the one to decide it was time for Taker to lose. The wrestlers found out earlier in that day while fans watching in the arena or at home were stunned by the result.

Tommy Dreamer is an ECW legend who also had a lengthy run in WWE and currently works for TNA Impact Wrestling. Dreamer is also a co-host of the popular Busted Open Radio show where he stated that Undertaker losing to Lesnar at WrestleMania 30 was a big mistake.

“I still to this day would say perhaps the worst decision in professional wrestling history. I just don’t think Brock needed at the time either.”

“The Streak was as popular and as a draw for WrestleMania. If you think about it, he had a few more matches left in him. When you went to two days, that was a guaranteed main event right there where you didn’t have to overthink what you had, who was going to be this next person to do it. Never would have done it; Brock didn’t need it, you always do something like that for someone who needs it. Wish it never happened, the only way I think ‘Taker should have lost is if it was his last ever match.”

In the Vince McMahon docuseries “Mr. McMahon” on Netflix, Vince McMahon explained his decision to have Undertaker by saying it was the right time. Vince also made the claim that he didn’t think that Undertaker had a concussion that night even though Vince literally went to the hospital with him while WrestleMania was still going on.
