The Undertaker Thinks WWE Streak Was Wasted On Brock Lesnar

The Undertaker WWE WrestleMania 30

The Undertaker believes other WWE stars would have benefitted more from ending his WrestleMania streak than Brock Lesnar.

When Brock Lesnar ended The Undertaker’s legendary undefeated streak at WrestleMania 30, the raucous New Orleans crowd and fans worldwide fell silent, shocked that The Beast had become “the 1 in 21 and 1.” At the time, some fans thought there had been a botch and Lesnar was never supposed to end The Deadman’s mythical run on The Grandest Stage Of Them All. However, it was later revealed that Vince McMahon himself had decided it was time to bring the streak to a close.

Not everyone was happy with the decision, including The Phenom himself. Speaking to Bully Ray on Busted Open Radio, Undertaker explained that he didn’t think Lesnar needed that win when there were rising stars who would benefit far more.

“I didn’t feel like Brock needed it, right? Brock was…and people you know, all the internet geniuses [were like] ‘Well, you know, he lost this, and he didn’t do this, and he didn’t do that. He needed a win.’ Brock was an attraction all to himself by this time. Would it have helped Bray? Obviously, would have helped Bray. Would it have skyrocketed Roman? Probably, if they’d have got that juice.”

Despite being a company man, Undertaker questioned the decision but ultimately had to follow his boss’s orders.

“But again, it wasn’t my call. I questioned it. The thing that was the most disturbing for me was when I got to the building that day, I was going over. I didn’t like the way it panned out. So it’s early afternoon in the Superdome. I’m in a room completely by myself, and the old man walks in and you know, that just doesn’t happen. As soon as I saw him, I knew right away.”

Vince McMahon Believes WWE WrestleMania 30 Loss Traumatized The Undertaker

During the Netflix documentary about his career, Vince McMahon claimed that The Undertaker was in “psychological shock” at his WrestleMania loss. While the WWE Hall of Famer maintains that he was concussed partway through the bout, McMahon refuses to believe that was the case, and instead, his condition came down to the loss being “so traumatic for him.”
