The Undertaker Believes WWE Is Comparable To Major Sports Leagues

The Undertaker WWE Talk

The present-day WWE product is thriving so much that The Undertaker thinks they are on the same level as major pro sports teams.

This has been one of the most successful years in WWE history with several stadium shows all around the world, not just in the United States of America.

It used to be that WWE would just run WrestleMania in a stadium used by an NFL team, but now they are doing that worldwide and they are doing it for events like SummerSlam, the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, Elimination Chamber, Crown Jewel and other events as well.

The Undertaker started with WWE 34 years ago at Survivor Series 1990. After 30 years as a main event performer, he retired, and he will always be remembered as one of the biggest legends in wrestling history.

As a retired wrestler, The Undertaker is still heavily involved with WWE while making special appearances like at WrestleMania 40 when he helped Cody Rhodes deal with The Bloodline.

The Undertaker Believes WWE Is A Major Entertainment Genre

While speaking about the current environment of WWE on his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker talked about how much the company has grown compared to when he started.

“From when I started to where we’re at now, it’s completely different. The way it’s perceived is different. The magnitude of the events are different, sponsors are different. All of this has happened within the last 20 years.

I think we now are on the same level or close to the NFL, Major League Baseball, NBA, all the major sports groups and different entertainment genres, I think we are finally on that level where we’re not considered kind of like a sideshow circus kind of deal. It’s good, it’s good to know that I was part of that development of that system.

The process to get into the PC is difficult, and it’s made so because we want the very best, just like the NFL wants the very best college players. It’s kind of the sake system. But yeah, in the last 20 years, we’ve really turned the page from kind of the sideshow deal to a major entertainment genre.”

While speaking about The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania ending at WrestleMania 30, WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield admits that he and Michael Cole were shocked when Brock Lesnar won that match to end the streak.
