The Undertaker Shares Vince McMahon’s Feelings About The Godfather

The Undertaker shared something special with his friend The Godfather about WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, who apparently speaks very fondly of The Godfather.

The Godfather, whose real name is Charles Wright, began his long run in WWE in the early 1990s as the mysterious Papa Shango. That led to some big feuds with the likes of The Ultimate Warrior (leading to the infamous black liquid on the face) and he was part of the WrestleMania 8 main event when he attacked Hulk Hogan (in support of Hogan’s opponent Sid) before Warrior made the save.

Wright was a completely different character during his WWE run in 1995 when he became Kama “The Supreme Fighting Machine.” He looked like a badass and carried himself that way. Kama would join Ted Dibiase’s Million Dollar Corporation while having a high-profile feud with The Undertaker after Kama stole the urn and melted it into a gold chain he could wear around his neck.

After the initial Kama run ended, he became Kama Mustafa, who was part of the Nation of Domination group that was first led by Faarooq and then Rocky Maivia (leading to him becoming The Rock) was the leader.

In the summer of 1998, the most successful character of Wright’s career was launched as he became The Godfather. The character was that of a man that enjoyed the high-life so to speak while also working as a pimp with the lovely ladies known as ho’s. The Godfather’s famous catchphrase was to remind the fans that: “Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy.” In 1999, The Godfather became the Intercontinental Champion and then after the heel turn as The Goodfather, he was a Tag Team Champion as well.

Behind the scenes, The Godfather was very popular among his peers and has been named as one of The Undertaker’s best friends. They were part of a group named the “Bone Street Krew” with most members getting “BSK” tattoos. Others in the group were Yokozuna, Rikishi, Savio Vega, Henry Godwinn and more.

During a recent appearance on the Midnight Hustle Podcast, The Godfather shared something that The Undertaker told him about their old boss, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon:

“Taker actually said, I swear he said this a couple of days ago, he goes, ‘Vince has got a special place in his heart for you. Vince likes real people, and you’re a real dude. Vince sees that and he really appreciates real people.’”

The Godfather’s full-time run in WWE ended in 2002 after over a decade of success in the company. He was inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame in 2016.
