The Undertaker Reveals Major WWE Regret
The Undertaker has admitted that one of the most memorable entrances of his WWE career was not one of his better ideas.
Survivor Series has always been a big part of The Undertaker’s career because he debuted at the event in 1990
It was 30 years later, at Survivor Series 2020, that he officially retired as a WWE superstar. The unfortunate thing about Survivor Series 2020 is that it was during the COVID-19 pandemic, and there were no fans in attendance for what would have been a memorable retirement ceremony.
At Survivor Series 1996, The Undertaker faced Mankind in a huge grudge match. The two men had multiple matches at that point, with the big one being at SummerSlam 1996 when Paul Bearer turned on Taker to help Mankind win. It was the end of Bearer as Taker’s manager for nearly six years.
For his entrance at Survivor Series 1996, The Undertaker had some bat wings added to his customary leather jacket as he was lowered down to the ringside area to have the match.

While speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast, talking about Survivor Series memories, The Undertaker admitted the bat wings were his idea.
“You know at this point in my life I am staying out really late and probably drinking more than I should. My judgment might be impaired through a few of these years. I did [ask for the bat wings]. That was my idea. This was my early attempt at being more demonic I guess? The character kind of taking it to that demonic state.”
The Undertaker Feels The Bat Wings Look Was Not One Of His Better Ideas
As he continued, The Undertaker spoke about how the bat wings idea looked so much cooler in its design, but admits it wasn’t one of his better ideas.
“Again not one of my, not one of my better ideas. They do remember, not in a good way. It just, it looked so much cooler, and this kind of thought process would repeat itself later on in my career with a pair of, the snakeskin pants. But I just, in my mind’s eye, it was gonna be really really cool.”
The “snakeskin pants” The Undertaker referenced were from Survivor Series 2000, four years later, when he was the American Badass character. Those were only worn once on television.
The Undertaker picked up the win over Mankind in their Survivor Series 1996 match, so at least the bat wings brought the Deadman good luck when he wore them.
