The Undertaker Crowns The Greatest Match He Ever Had
In a recent episode of his podcast “Six Feet Under,” WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker had Booker T as his guest. Taker reflected on his illustrious career, singling out his WrestleMania 25 match against Shawn Michaels as his crowning achievement.
The Undertaker emphasised the ease and fluidity of the match, attributing much of its success to the chemistry between himself and Michaels.
It’s probably my greatest match, as far as our technical wrestling match. It was so easy. That’s the crazy part about it, and I tell people this all the time and a lot of people outside the business don’t understand. All I had to do was be The Undertaker.
The Phenom went on to discuss the challenges often faced by veteran wrestlers when working with less experienced talent. He noted that as a wrestler’s reputation grows, there’s often a need to guide less seasoned opponents, which can affect timing and performance. However, with Michaels, The Undertaker found a rare equilibrium where both could focus solely on their individual roles.
All I had to do was go out and be me, because I knew Shawn had Shawn covered, yeah, and he’s just one of those guys that I had really good chemistry with. And yeah, it was just a magical night.
The conversation also touched on the difficulties of balancing a wrestling career with family life. The Undertaker acknowledged the challenges of finding the right equilibrium, praising his guest, fellow WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, for seemingly achieving this balance.
You have a good balance. Yeah, that’s the difficult part is finding the balance of what’s right and feeling what’s right for me, and what’s right for the family. It’s tough, it’s a tough business to be able to get all that squared away. But yeah, looks like you’re doing it, man. I’m happy for you.
The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels would go on to have a rematch the following year at WrestleMania 26, this time closing the show which it was argued after the fact that they should have also done the same in their first WrestleMania encounter.
