The Surprising Former WCW Star Who Said Hulk Hogan Wanted To Lose The World Title To Them
Former WCW star Ernest “The Cat” Miller once claimed that wrestling legend Hulk Hogan was willing to drop the WCW World Championship to him.
Speaking on a 2018 episode of the Pancakes and Powerslams podcast, Miller revealed that Hogan wanted to involve him in the nWo storyline and even suggested losing the title to him as part of the angle.
“You know what, Hogan wanted to lose the title to me one time to get me involved with the nWo,” Miller said.
However, he noted that aside from the nWo, WCW didn’t have much else going on at the time.
“But then, if you noticed, we had so much little to nothing going on outside of the nWo.”
Miller also spoke positively about his working relationship with Hogan, describing him as approachable and easy to collaborate with.
“[I] may have been different from a lot of people. [Hulk Hogan] and I had a bond, he was really a good guy and easy to talk to,” Miller explained. “I would run things past him, and he’ll give me some of his respects about the situation… Hulk Hogan was just another wrestler, who told me what to do and he was professional at it. Give me some advice, and I’ll take it and move on. I had a great experience with Hulk Hogan.”
Despite Miller never capturing the WCW World Championship or breaking into the main event scene, his story offers a glimpse into the backstage dynamics of WCW during its peak. However, it remains uncertain how close he truly came to winning the company’s top prize.
What Moment Did Hulk Hogan Realise He Had Become A Megastar?
Hulk Hogan spoke about the moment that he knew his wrestling persona had become a megastar and said that the realisation came when renowned New York journalist John Stossel approached him for an interview. Hogan recalled his sudden realisation that the wrestling business had gone from being a niche sport to a mainstream phenomenon and he was at the centre of its boom.
