The Street Profits End 4 Year Drought On WWE SmackDown

WWE The Street Profits Smoke

The Street Profits have a reason to celebrate after what happened on WWE SmackDown in Barcelona.

There are a lot of great tag teams throughout WWE in both the men’s and women’s divisions. One of the teams that has been around the longest are The Street Profits duo of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins.

During their six years on the WWE main roster, The Street Profits have been Tag Team Champions before. Before WWE SmackDown in Barcelona, The Street Profits hadn’t been Tag Team Champions since they lost the titles to Dolph Ziggler (now in TNA) and Bobby Roode (retired as a wrestler, working as a WWE Producer) in January 2021.

The SmackDown tag team division has been chaotic for several months since The Profits were attacked backstage to prevent them from getting a Tag Team Title match. It was due to a legit injury to Dawkins. This also led to the Profits ruining some of #DIY’s Tag Team Title matches because The Profits felt like they were owed a title shot.

That title shot was finally granted.

The Street Profits Are WWE Tag Team Champions Again

In the main event of WWE SmackDown in Barcelona, The Street Profits won the WWE Tag Team Titles from #DIY’s Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano. As noted above, it’s the first time the Street Profits have been WWE Tag Team Champions in over four years.

The #DIY duo nearly had the match won when Ciampa hit a Fairytale Ending along with a Gargano superkick for just a two count. When Gargano tagged in, #DIY went for their Meet in the Middle combo move, but Dawkins ducked and Gargano hit a superkick on Ciampa. Dawkins hit a spinebuster on Gargano right after that.

Montez Ford got the tag, he went up top and hit a Frog Splash on Gargano for the pinfall win to capture the WWE Tag Team Titles.

The Street Profits celebrated with the WWE Tag Team Titles. There was some pyro going off in the background as the show ended.

This was the second week in a row where there was a title change in the SmackDown main event since LA Knight beat Shinsuke Nakamura to win the US Title on the March 7th SmackDown episode.
