The Steps FOX Takes To Censor The Rock On WWE SmackDown

The Rock WWE

The Rock has been saying whatever he wants on social media in recent weeks but in WWE, at least, FOX has a plan for his wild promos.

The Rock has been causing frustration backstage in WWE over his profanity-laced promos that he’s been cutting ahead of WrestleMania 40 on social media.

The Great One is saying as he pleases on those platforms despite an edict given by management to other WWE stars to watch their language both on TV and on social media. However, it seems WWE has a plan in place to deal with The Rock when he’s on SmackDown.

FOX Gets The Rock’s Scripts Ahead Of Time

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has explained that FOX receives a script ahead of time and is able to censor The Rock in the appropriate places if he gets too far from PG on the show:

They bleeped a lot of stuff on SmackDown. The deal with the TV [promos], FOX gets the script ahead of time so they know when to bleep. Because the whole thing, The Rock promo, obviously it’s completely scripted. If it was anyone else, they would just be not allowed to say it.

But with The Rock, it’s like he can say whatever he wants, but they know what he’s gonna say and when he’s gonna say it, so anything they wanna bleep out, they will bleep out. And they know when to bleep it out because they’re told ahead of time. So that’s kind of the gist of the promo and why certain things were bleeped out and everything like that, and they didn’t miss on anything.

The Rock will return to the ring at WrestleMania 40 as he teams with Roman Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the presumed night one main event.
