Ex-WWE Star Says The Rock Made His Career

A former WWE superstar is grateful that he was able to have a special moment with The Rock that will live on forever.

When Nick Dinsmore played the Eugene character in WWE in the mid-2000s, it was one of the most unique gimmicks in the history of the company. Eugene was memorable because of how good of a performer Dinsmore was.

While looking back on his run in WWE, the former Eugene recalled a time on the May 17, 2004, episode of Raw when Eric Bischoff & Jonathan Coachman were bullying poor Eugene until The Rock showed up. Dinsmore talked about the moment with Action Network and spoke about how much Rock saving him helped his career.

“He was super cool, and the experience was awesome. That is probably the biggest highlight of my career. I didn’t know the Rock and I may have shaken his hand once, but I hadn’t met him. The Rock came down from LA and when the Rock and Eugene went into the ring together that was in San Diego and the Rock didn’t know me and didn’t have to do it.

“He was making movies in LA but took the time out to come down and work with somebody he didn’t know. That’s what top guys do, they reach down to somebody else and pull them up and that’s what the Rock did for me. After that, Eugene and the Rock became friends in the ring and Eugene was a made man, he made him a star.”

Dinsmore spoke about his interactions with The Rock and how the People’s Champion helped them big time when they were in the ring.

“Not so much in the back but on that episode of RAW, I was involved in five or six segments so throughout the day, we had to walk through each one and the Rock was with the writer Brian Gerwitz and they were going over what he would be saying in the ring and I would go back and I only had one line but every time we practiced it, I was missing the line.

So, I am standing in the ring, the Rock is doing his stuff and all of a sudden, he puts the microphone by his hip and says you’ve got the next line and fed the microphone to me. That was the line that set me up, so it was awesome.”

Later in 2004, Eugene went on to have some high-profile matches against the likes of Triple H at SummerSlam.

WWE Has Plans For The Rock If He Decides To Compete At WrestleMania 41

The start of a new year means that WWE fans are getting ready for the Royal Rumble in the coming weeks along with rumors about what might be happening at WrestleMania 41 on April 19-20 in Las Vegas. It has been reported recently that the working plan is for WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to face WWE legend John Cena at WrestleMania 41 likely with the title on the line.

However, there is a contingency plan in place if The Rock decides he wants to wrestle at WrestleMania 41. That plan would likely see Rock against Cody while Cena would be against Gunther, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Since The Rock pinned Cody Rhodes in a tag team match at WrestleMania 40 Saturday, it makes sense for him to face Cody if he competes at WrestleMania, but all of that is based on whether Rock wants to and can compete at WrestleMania 41. As always, plans could change.
