The Rock Explains Why Roman Reigns Uses “Head Of The Table” Phrase
The Rock has revealed somewhat of a long-term plan that was in place for why Roman Reigns used the “Head of the Table” phrase.
Ever since Roman Reigns won the WWE Universal Title on August 30, 2020, he has cemented himself as an all-time legendary superstar in WWE. In the years that followed, Reigns has used certain phrases such as The Bloodline name for his family’s group, the “Tribal Chief” as a nickname for himself and he has also called himself the Head of the Table.
It has been well-known for several years that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was rumored to compete in WWE again and we might finally get that official in-ring return at WrestleMania 40. The obvious match for The Rock was against Roman Reigns due to them being “cousins” who are part of the massive Anoi’a wrestling family.
When The Rock confronted Roman Reigns on the February 2nd edition of Smackdown, the plan at that time was to do Reigns against Rock at WrestleMania 40. However, the WWE Universe rejected that idea by complaining on social media and booing in arenas because they wanted to see Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes finish his story against Reigns at WrestleMania 40 instead.
That’s Reigns-Rhodes match is what WWE is going with now.
The Rock Shares What The Plan Was With “Head Of The Table” Phrase
In a lengthy video on Instagram, The Rock revealed that the “Head of the Table” line was used to set up that eventual Reigns-Rock match.
“Let The Rock drop some gospel on you. Here’s the common sense. When Roman Reigns, years ago, dropped the words, ‘Head of the Table’, those words were specifically and solely set up and created so one day, Roman Reigns, the champion of the WWE, would come face-to-face with his cousin, The Rock, ‘The People’s Champion,’ and together, combined, they will make the biggest WrestleMania of all time. The biggest match of all time. The biggest match in the history of professional wrestling.”
“When Roman Reigns said those words, that’s why he said it. Because that is Roman Reigns’ story. That is The Rock’s story. At one time, that was Cody Rhodes’ story. But it was last year. What happened last year at WrestleMania? What’s the technical term? [Laughs] Oh, he s**t the bed. That’s what happened.”
The Rock is headed back to Smackdown on March 1st along with Roman Reigns and the rest of The Bloodline. Cody Rhodes, who recently challenged Rock to a match, will be there too and so will Seth “Freakin” Rollins as well.
