The Rock Warned About Stealing Time By Top WWE NXT Star
The Rock may have to deal with one of NXT’s biggest names if he ever appears on the show again.
At WWE NXT New Year’s Evil, three championship matches saw new champions crowned. Giulia beat Roxanne Perez to become the NXT Women’s Champion, Lexis King officially captured the Heritage Cup from Charlie Dempsey and Oba Femi won the NXT Title over former champion Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe.
There was also a backstage segment where The Rock informed Ethan Page that Rock’s daughter Ava is the Final Boss of NXT since she’s the General Manager of the brand.
In the main event, The Rock appeared in the NXT ring for the first time to say some swear words while also thanking the fans for supporting the NXT brand. That appearance from Rock also led to NXT getting its highest TV audience in over five years.
Oba Femi Reacts To The Rock Taking NXT Main Event Spot
If The Rock wasn’t on NXT New Year’s Evil, Oba Femi’s NXT Title win would likely have been in the main event spot. Instead, Rock’s promo went on last.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Oba Femi was asked about Rock taking that main event spotlight and it led to Femi issuing a warning to the People’s Champion because the hosts claimed it was Femi’s show as the NXT Champion.
“Yes, of course it is, this is all mine. At the moment the time was being stolen from me, I wasn’t even aware it was being stolen from me. Maybe if I knew, I would have gone up to him and been like, ‘Hey, Uncle Dwayne, what are you doing?’
“I’ll let it slide this time. But the next time Uncle Dwayne comes in and steals time from me, there’s going to be problems.”
Those comments from Femi were likely in character and perhaps tongue-in-cheek, but a star like Femi could be thriving on the main roster soon, so perhaps a showdown with The Rock in his future. Anything can happen in WWE after all.
