Why The Rock Surprisingly Walked Away From John Cena Storyline Possibly Revealed

John Cena and The Rock at WWE Elimination Chamber

The Rock was an integral part of John Cena’s heel turn, and fans were expecting something more to come out of this angle.

However, The Final Boss wasn’t seen on WWE TV after Elimination Chamber, and most shockingly, he was not present for WrestleMania 41.

Following that, Cena buried The Rock and turned babyface once again. At this point, the WWE Universe expected The Rock to show up at SummerSlam 2025 to push Cena’s story forward, which also did not happen.

The Rock possibly did not like his idea being shot down

It has already been established that The Final Boss had ideas for creative angles, and they were shot down. Initially, he wanted Cody Rhodes to turn heel, but after that idea was shot down, John Cena turned heel.

While speaking on Behind The Turnbuckle, Vince Russo explained that The Brahma Bull would not have committed to a storyline and then pulled himself out of it unless something happened backstage.

Coach, do you think for one second he committed to the John Cena storyline and then he pulled himself out of it? The only way, but the only way I think that would have ever happened is if something pissed him off. If he felt strongly about something and he was trying to get it over and get it through, and everybody else was sh**ing at or sh**ing on it. And at that point, Rock said, “You know what? You’re on your own.” I don’t think he would have made that commitment unless he was going to be a part of it. Here’s what I believe.

Currently, there is no saying if The Rock will make another WWE TV appearance during John Cena’s Farewell Tour or not. However, it’s doubtful given that there might be backstage heat between Triple H and him.
