The Rock Using Familiar Phrase Says AEW Star

The Rock

A certain phrase used by The Rock on WWE television has led to one AEW star commenting that it sounds familiar.

When Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came back to WWE earlier in 2024, the idea was that he would be the guy to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. However, WWE had Cody Rhodes win the Royal Rumble for the second year in a row and after The Rock had a staredown with Reigns on Smackdown (when Cody Rhodes appeared to step aside), fans were upset about it.

The good news for WWE fans is that the bosses were listening because The Rock turned heel during the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Event and Cody Rhodes said that on that night he was using his Rumble win to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title for the second year in a row.

On Night 1 of WrestleMania 40, The Rock will team up with his cousin Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes & World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins. If Rock & Reigns win then the Cody-Roman match is Bloodline Rules. If Cody & Seth win then the Cody-Roman match is free of The Bloodline, so it’s a high-stakes battle.

Is The Rock Really The Final Boss In Pro Wrestling?

During Johnson’s appearances on WWE television throughout the month of March and in social media promos, he has referred to himself as “The Final Boss.” It’s a reminder to fans that The Rock is on the TKO Board of Directors, which does make him a boss. It’s also a term used in video games.

There was also a recent pro wrestling reference as well because AEW’s Serena Deeb called herself “The Final Boss” as well on the March 2nd episode of AEW Collision.

Serena Deeb addressed it during a virtual signing with Highspots Superstore.

“Funny thing is, I said that on Collision and then the following week…I don’t even know if I can say this. [Someone says he stole it] He stole it? [Laughs] Someone took it, and you guys would know who he is.”

For fans wanting to see The Rock on WWE television again, The Final Boss will be back on Raw on April 1st in Brooklyn, which is five days before his WrestleMania 40 Saturday match takes place.
