The Rock Starts Work On New Movie
The Rock has dived into a film.
Production on the third and final movie in the JUMANJI franchise has begun in Los Angeles. The new film is tentatively titled “Cross Platform” and is currently scheduled for a Christmas 2026 release.
The Rock plays Dr. Smolder Bravestone in the franchise alongside Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan. The quartet took up the roles for “Welcome To The Jungle” in 2017, before following up with “The Next Level” two years later.
To celebrate the new project, The Rock posted the following on social media.
“Officially kicking off production of JUMANJI, at our cast table read in Los Angeles – where we will film as well. What a massive, fun, heartfelt adventure. Feels emotionally appropriate for our beloved JUMANJI franchise to end on this beautiful grace note of our final film.
Amazing to get the whole gang back together, and our jaws were hurting from laughing so hard. We all talked about how much we’ve missed this kinda joy and fun. Let’s make a good one.”
The Rock Brushes Off Box Office Flop
During a new interview, The Rock claimed he was unconcerned by the box office failure of The Smashing Machine, despite the Oscar buzz surrounding the project.
In response to the movie’s poor performance, the WWE legend said that he never even thought about its financial performance. He rationalised that after the movie came out, he went to bed feeling peaceful, and woke up exactly the same way.
The film generated just $11.3 million domestically and $20.2 million worldwide against a budget of a reported $50 million.
Away from Hollywood, Cody Rhodes has hinted that WWE fans might not have seen the last of The Rock in the ring.
