The Rock Makes Shocking Claim About WWE Final Boss Persona
The Rock believes he’s set to the standard.
In February 2024, despite winning the Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes said he would be moving aside to let The Rock face Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
However, fans quickly and loudly rejected the switch, and instead, Rock turned heel, creating “The Final Boss” in the process. In the run-up to WrestleMania, Rock went to Raw with Rhodes, leaving him a bloody mess in the rain on Raw.
On night one of the spectacular, the Hollywood star teamed with Reigns to beat Rhodes and Seth Rollins. But it was Rhodes who got the last laugh, beating Reigns a day later to claim the World Championship.
In episode four of the new behind-the-scenes docuseries WWE: Unreal, The Rock comments on his Final Boss persona, calling it the greatest heel character in history.
“The Final Boss, the greatest heel professional wrestling has seen. Insurmountable antagonist. There’s nothing The Final Boss can’t do. There’s nothing that The Final Boss can’t say. Becoming this new version has been the most gratifying decision that I’ve ever made.”
The Rock Involved In Surprising Elimination Chamber Pitch
At Elimination Chamber 2025, Cody Rhodes refused to sell The Rock his soul and remained a beloved babyface in the process. This shocking moment played into a second shocker, when John Cena turned heel at the behest of The Rock before attacking Rhodes.
In the midst of the beatdown, Travis Scott also got in on the action, rupturing Rhodes’ eardrum and giving him a black eye.
This remains The Rock’s most recent WWE appearance. However, there was a pitch where things would have played out very differently.
Also in WWE: Unreal, Brian Gewirtz revealed that he and The Rock pitched for Rhodes to lose the Undisputed WWE Championship in the moments after refusing The Great One’s offer. This would have seen an impromptu match set, with Kevin Owens walking out with the title.
