The Rock Praises Former WWE NXT Champion
The Rock had positive things to say about a former WWE NXT Champion in a post on social media.
When the WWE NXT brand headed to Los Angeles for New Year’s Evil, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was on hand for his first appearance ever in NXT.
An appearance by The Rock was not advertised by WWE, but Rock did mention it one night earlier on Raw. Since Rock’s daughter Ava is the NXT GM, he likely wanted to support his daughter on the show.
There was a backstage segment on the show when The Rock interacted with Ava and Ethan Page as well. Rock said he heard that Ethan broke a guy’s jaw, then Page said Je’Von Evans deserved it and Rock warned him that payback’s gonna be a bitch. Page seemed to doubt that. Rock said that he is The Final Boss, but in NXT, Ava is the Final Boss. Rock told Page if you are going to be cool with Rock then be cool with her. Rock wished Page good luck on the main roster one day and Rock even slapped Page’s ass on the way out.
Later in the show, The Rock appeared in the NXT main event segment and used multiple swear words that were muted on the broadcast. Rock even apologized for the language during his promo. Other than that, Rock teased that his rivalry with Cody Rhodes may not be over and thanked the fans for supporting the company.
The Rock Believes Ethan Page Is “Very Coachable”
Former WWE NXT Champion Ethan Page appeared on Busted Open Radio this week with Bubba Ray Dudley (aka Bully Ray). The clip was posted on Busted Open’s Instagram, Rock was tagged in it and Rock decided to comment on it.
I like Ethan a lot- talented cat with tons of potential. We had a great chat after the show and here’s what I loved most (despite his appropriate heel character answer here;) was his humility and gratitude. Very coachable too when we were shooting our scene, and that showed me A LOT. Ps – Hey Bubba…. HUSH PUPPIES DADDY!!!
It’s not known when The Rock may appear on WWE television again.
