The Rock Allegedly Planning Huge WWE Career Move

The Rock WWE Raw

The Rock could have greater ambitions in his future when it comes to WWE.

The Rock was announced as a board member of TKO in early 2024, just days before a sexual abuse lawsuit targeted at Vince McMahon came to light. McMahon was forced to resign as Executive Chairman of TKO as a result, with Triple H taking full grip of WWE’s creative direction in his father-in-law’s absence.

It looked like from the get-go that The Rock’s presence could cause some upset with The People’s Champion, originally meant to take Cody Rhodes’ place in the main event of WrestleMania 40 against Roman Reigns. WWE pivoted after fan backlash, with The Rock morphing into The Final Boss and joining Reigns in a huge tag team match against Rhodes and Seth Rollins on night one of WrestleMania.

In 2025, The Rock was back involved with Rhodes as he sought out The American Nightmare’s soul. Instead, John Cena turned on Rhodes and seemingly aligned with The Rock and Travis Scott. Although by the time WrestleMania 41 came around, The Rock was nowhere to be found, with Scott helping Cena become WWE Champion.

Behind the scenes, there have been plenty rumours of unrest between The Rock and Triple H, who were by no means friendly during their in-ring rivalry. It is believed The Rock pitched Rhodes to turn heel before Triple H made a play for Cena to be the one to break bad. That gave WWE a blockbuster moment, but the storyline that followed was lacklustre, and Cena’s heel turn was abandoned before he got back in the ring with Rhodes at SummerSlam.

Does The Rock Want Ultimate Power In WWE?

However, when it comes to power in WWE, could The Rock be looking for even more?

Speaking on Coach & Bro, former WWE star Jonathan Coachman shared his assessment of The Rock’s ambition to one day take control of the sports entertainment giant:

I think long-term, [The Rock] does want to run the company. I think he would love to be president or CEO of WWE when he gets to a point where he’s tired of making movies.

Triple H has been urged to become the modern-day Vince McMahon in WWE, but should Nick Khan ever step away from the sports entertainment giant, that role could well be taken by The Final Boss.
