The Rock’s Movie Role May Prevent WWE WrestleMania Match

The Rock WWE Bad Blood

The Rock may be too busy to appear in a huge match at WWE WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

In the main event of WrestleMania 40 Saturday, The Rock pinned Cody Rhodes in a massive tag team match that saw Rock team up with Roman Reigns while Rhodes teamed up with Seth Rollins. That match took place one night before Cody beat Roman to become the WWE Champion.

On the night after Cody’s big title win, The Rock appeared on Raw to warn Cody that he had to go away for a while (due to Rock’s busy career making movies and other projects), but he would be back for him soon. That led to speculation that WWE might have Rhodes against Rock penciled in as a WrestleMania 41 main event next April in Las Vegas.

While it’s not known if The Rock will compete at WrestleMania 41, a rumor has emerged about how Cody Rhodes is likely going to defend the WWE Title against John Cena at WrestleMania 41 in what would be Cena’s final WrestleMania match. However, PWInsider reports that it could change if The Rock were able to compete and wanted to work with Rhodes or Cena.

The Rock’s Busy Movie Shooting Schedule Could Affect WrestleMania Plans

When The Rock competed at WrestleMania 40, it was his first lengthy match in 13 years. He did have a WrestleMania win over Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32 in 2016, but that was just one Rock Bottom to win the match. The last long match he had was the WrestleMania 29 main event when he lost the WWE Title to John Cena.

It has also been reported by Ibou of WrestlePurists on X that The Rock will likely be busy doing reshoots for the upcoming Moana film.

Rock has to do Moana reshoots that were originally not planned and accounted for. The match on slate right now is Cody/Cena. Triple H has a couple WM cards prepared in case of emergency. WWE is working with card #2, Cena/Rhodes and Reigns/Punk being your headliners.

A Roman Reigns-CM Punk match has been “heavily discussed” by WWE as one of the biggest matches at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

As is often the case with WWE, especially when it comes to WWE, plans can and perhaps will change.
