The Rock Loses Out At The Golden Globes To Top Hollywood Star
The Rock had transformed for ‘The Smashing Machine’, and was nominated for the best male actor award at the Golden Globes as well.
The movie was heavily promoted, and it was different from the films Dwayne Johnson usually does. While it was deemed to be a success, the movie did not do as well as expected.
The Smashing Machine was a biopic on MMA fighter Mark Kerr. Johnson received much praise from Hollywood for his portrayal of the fighter. Unfortunately, the Golden Globes weren’t his this time.
The best male actor award was bagged by Timothée Chalamet for playing the role of Marty in Marty Supreme.
Previously, Johnson had revealed that The Smashing Machine had helped him understand his father, Rocky Johnson, better. Rocky Johnson had struggled with substance abuse, just like Mark Kerr.

John Cena opened up about the impact of The Rock’s absence from his Farewell Tour
The Rock and Travis Scott played a crucial role in John Cena’s heel turn. However, The Final Boss disappeared from WWE TV owing to backstage fallouts.
At the Fan Expo New Orleans, John Cena spoke about The Rock’s absence from the Farewell Tour and revealed that while there is quite a bit on what could have been, he would not trade what has been done for anything.
I got magic with AJ Styles, so yes, The Rock and Travis Scott probably would have been great, who knows it didn’t happen. But what I got in return, instead of wishing some fantasy element that I can’t control, what I got in return is magic and I wouldn’t trade that for anything. [H/t: Wrestletalk]
