The Rock Reveals Idea He Gave Vince McMahon That Wrestlers “Hated”

The Rock

The Rock has revealed that he was the man behind an idea Vince McMahon implemented and other wrestlers “hated”.

The Rock is a WWE legend and one of the biggest stars in the history of professional wrestling. As one of the top wrestlers of the Attitude Era, The Great One tangled with the likes of Triple H, The Undertaker, and, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. One of his most well-remembered feuds took place early in late 1998 and early 1999 when he battled Mankind in increasingly brutal matches including an ‘I Quit’ match at the Royal Rumble which won the 1999 Pro Wrestling Illustrated Match of the Year.

It was also that year that The Rock began to work alongside Brian Gewirtz, who is best known as the first man to hold the position of Head Writer in WWE.

Gewirtz unveiled the cover for his upcoming book, ‘There’s Just One Problem…’ recently on Twitter. In the book, he looks back on his time as a WWE writer from 1999 to 2012.

The Rock retweeted the cover and revealed that he was not only responsible for Gewirtz being signed to the company, but for suggesting the idea of hiring writers to Vince McMahon for the first time.

“I first worked with Brian in ‘99 and suggested to @VinceMcMahon we hire Brian as @WWE’s first ever writer. Boss (Vince) agreed. Wrestlers hated it. I loved it. He became WWE’s head writer for years. Today he’s VP of @SevenBucksProd, And releasing this BOOK you should read!”

‘There’s Just One Problem…’ is set to be released on August 16th. Brian Gewirtz was removed from his Head Writer position in WWE in 2012 but continued as a Creative Consultant and wrote promos for The People’s Champ when he made appearances for the company. In 2015, he left WWE for good to join The Rock’s ‘Seven Bucks Entertainment’ production company as their Senior Vice President of Development. His production credits so far include Young Rock, Behind The Attraction, and The Titan Games.
