The Rock To Be Honoured At Major Film Festival

The Rock

The Rock is set to be honoured at a major film festival, as many fans wonder when he’ll be due for an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

The Rock was last seen in WWE back at Elimination Chamber when he oversaw John Cena turning heel on Cody Rhodes ahead of their WWE Title match at WrestleMania 41. Many fans expected The Final Boss to be a part of the build-up to that bout, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Cena acknowledged that his heel turn had been a failure and seemed to suggest that it did not play out as originally planned due to The Rock’s continued absence and that of rap star Travis Scott, who was bizarrely intertwined with the whole escapade.

Outside of the ring, The Rock has been tipped for an Oscar nomination for his role in The Smashing Machine. The WWE icon portrays troubled UFC star Mark Kerr as he deals with his struggles in and out of the Octagon. However, despite rave reviews for The Rock’s performance, the movie died a death at the box office.

The Rock Being Recognised For Contributions To Entertainment

Variety has now reported that the man known best to the wider world as Dwayne Johnson will be honoured at the 8th American Black Film Festival in February. He will receive the Entertainment Icon Award for his “incredible contributions to the world of entertainment.”

While the accolades outside of the wrestling world stack up for Johnson, many fans have wondered when he might receive his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Stephanie McMahon is the only inductee announced so far for the Class of 2026, and John Cena has been heavily tipped to headline that class.
