The Rock Shares Heartbreaking Personal Revelation
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has shared the details of a heartbreaking personal chapter from his life involving his father, Rocky Johnson.
The WWE great recently appeared on Artist Friendly, speaking to American singer Joel Madden about his life’s journey, including fatherhood, discipline, and mental health.
On the podcast, he also reflected on his relationship with his father, admitting to a fallout with him in 2019. However, before they could make peace, his father passed away.
We got into this huge fight Christmas 2019… it was awful. One of the biggest fights we ever got into about some just some stupid [stuff]… and then about a month later, he passed away. And we weren’t talking.
The Rock even admitted regretting missing a phone call from him a few days before his death.
He called me and I didn’t take the call… I was at my kid’s game. I thought, ‘I’ll call him back.’ And then like a day or two later, he’s gone.
Johnson further stated that he still has his father’s phone number saved as a favorite, along with a voicemail from him.
The Rock Reflects On A Spiritual Closeness With His Father
Despite the personal loss weighing on him, The Rock claimed that he felt a sense of spiritual closeness with his father that he never knew existed before.
It’s weird—it’s like your father always goes before you… even in death. And something happened when he passed away… I feel like we’re closer than we ever were when he was here.
The 53-year-old Hollywood star further said that despite not getting full closure, he had a lot of love for his father.
We still ended it with, ‘Alright, I love you. Love you too.’ Which was good, man. But I never looked at it like that… I feel like we got to a good place. [H/T: Ringside News]
