The Rock Talks Endeavor’s WWE-UFC Merger – “I’m Excited About This”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has explained why he thinks that Endeavor merging WWE with the UFC is a great thing for everybody involved.
There have been many huge stories in pro wrestling this year already as we sit here in the month of May, but nothing is bigger than Endeavor acquiring WWE in a deal that was announced on April 3rd, the day after WrestleMania 39.
Endeavor didn’t just buy WWE. They are merging it with the UFC in a $21 billion deal with WWE valued at over $9 billion as part of the deal. It’s an incredible amount of money that will lead to a new company being formed while the same WWE people are in charge of the promotion.
The Rock is one of the greatest WWE superstars ever that was heavily rumored for a WrestleMania 39 match this year, which didn’t happen. There are already rumors of The Rock in a match at WrestleMania 40 because there will probably be Rock return rumors as long as he’s living.
During an appearance on CNBC talking about the very successful Teremana tequila business, The Rock spoke about the Endeavor-WWE deal while also noting that he had contact with WWE’s Executive Chairman Vince McMahon recently.
“There have been some big deals in the wrestling space, yes. I just connected with Vince the other day.”
As he continued, The Rock was asked about the Endeavor deal to merge WWE & UFC together.
“I see smooth sailing with those guys. They’ve known each other for a very long time. We all have, as a matter of fact, and I see smooth sailing with this. This has been a long time coming.”
“Think about where Vince started. I often talk about my seven bucks moment, how I had seven bucks in my pocket when I was cut from the Canadian Football League. Vince had his seven bucks moment as well when he leveraged every dollar he had for the very first WrestleMania.”
“Years later, he creates this merger with Ari that is in the billions of dollars. I see, when I say smooth sailing, these guys are adamant on creating an incredible conglomerate that is going to entertain the masses. Between WWE, UFC, Bullriding, and probably other things that are coming down the pipe, I’m excited about this merger.”
In another recent interview, The Rock spoke about how wrestling helped save his relationship with his oldest daughter.
