The Rock Confirms WWE Netflix Plans
The Rock has confirmed that he will be in attendance when Raw makes it’s Netflix debut on 6th January.
The company’s flagship show has now left broadcast television for the first time since it’s 1993 inception after signing a deal with the global streaming giant that is set to be worth $500 million per year.
Anticipation for the Netflix debut is high, with WWE already announcing a number of big name bouts for the show including the long-awaited grudge match between CM Punk and Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins and a Last Woman Standing match that sees WWE Women’s World Champion, Liv Morgan defending her title against long-time rival, Rhea Ripley.
Another huge bout set for 6th January sees Roman Reigns battling Solo Sikoa in a match up contested under Tribal Combat Rules to decide who controls The Bloodline.
The Rock Confirms Raw Attendance
With WrestleMania season right around the corner, speculation has been rife as to what role, if any, The Rock could play when WWE head to Las Vegas, Nevada on 19th/20th April.
The former WWE Champion has been promoting major motion pictures ‘Red One’ and ‘Moana 2’ in recent months and has been absent from WWE television since a tense stare down with Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes at the end of Bad Blood in October.
Whilst it appears that WWE are moving ahead for plans at WrestleMania that do not include The Rock competing, the upcoming bout on Raw for the possession of the sacred Ula Fala has seemingly proven enough for ‘The People’s Champion’ to make his come back.
In an emotional post on Instagram, ‘The Great One’ paid tribute to his Samoan heritage and promised to be return back to WWE as the company begins a new era in partnership with the streaming giant:
“Besides having my three daughters, my Samoan High Chief Title, High Chief Seiuli is one of the greatest honor of my life.
I gave my word and made a commitment 20 years ago to his Highness High Chief Maleatoa Tunamafili II and to our people of Samoa, that I would “leave my boyish ways behind” (well, I try 😅) and carry my Samoan, Polynesian, and Black culture around the world with great respect, pride, kindness, MANA, humility, and warrior spirit.
Fa’a Samoa (the Samoan way)
After 20yrs of proudly carrying our culture with me around the world, I can’t wait to soon return back home to Samoa. I already have chills just thinking about it 🇼🇸❤️💪🏾
Until then, I’ll come back home to @wwe tomorrow night as we make history on @netflix and begin a new and exciting era.
Tomorrow night is dedicated to my grandfather, the High Chief Peter Maivia, my grandmother, Lia Maivia and my dad, Rocky “Soulman” Johnson and my ancestors who have ALL paved the way.
