The Rock Is A “Big Fan” Of A Surprising AEW Star

The Rock on WWE SmackDown

The Rock is reportedly a huge fan of one particular AEW star.

In recent weeks, it’s been confirmed that Kyle Fletcher, Kota Ibushi, and Hook have all signed new contracts with AEW.

For Hook and Fletcher, that means new “multi-year” deals, while Ibushi has announced that he’ll be All Elite for at least another two years. However, not all contract extensions are created equal, and not every deal is a cause for celebration.

It was recently reported that AEW has added injury time to Danhausen’s contract, meaning he’s set to stay with the promotion well into 2026. Originally, his deal was set to expire in July 2025.

More interestingly, the star had reportedly asked AEW not to pick up the extension, to allow him to leave. Danhausen hasn’t featured on AEW television since November 2023, and there are no plans to use him as rumours of WWE interest swirl.

The Rock Is Very Nice And Very Evil?

Despite the apparent setback, the remains a significant interest in Danhausen from WWE.

According to a report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Danhausen has a number of supporters within WWE, including The Rock.

“There are those in WWE into that gimmick, including Dwayne Johnson, who was a big fan of him when he first started making his name.”

Despite his position on the board of directors, The Rock hasn’t appeared on WWE television since Elimination Chamber. Ahead of the event, he offered Cody Rhodes the chance to join him as a heel, but in Toronto, the American Nightmare turned him down.

Instead, it was John Cena who turned heel, and he attacked Rhodes with the help of Travis Scott.

Although appearing central to the story around Cena, The Rock promptly disappeared from television, missing WrestleMania 41 in the process. He later claimed that the story didn’t need him.

In addition, it was revealed that he was personally asked to appear at Elimination Chamber by TKO Executive Chairman Ari Emanuel to boost ticket sales.
